Vielen Dank für die Schokolade, A. Jay.
For Christmas this year, A. Jay. brought Nick and I each a box of Hachez Chocolate Leaves and a box of Merci Chocolates. The chocolate leaves, A. Jay told us, are quite the delicacy in terms of chocolate. Merci, on the other hand, is much more mainstream. Just a simple German milk chocolate candy.
Well… I took one bite of the Merci chocolates (I think my first bite was of the hazelnut-almond variety) and slipped away into a little piece of heaven.
Now, I’m not a chocolate lover. I have never in my life referred to chocolate and heaven in the same sentence. But these little rectangular bricks of chocolate equate to the best chocolate I’ve ever eaten. An absolutely perfect match for my (apparently mainstream German) taste buds.
I immediately made a deal with Nick to trade (nearly) my whole box of leaves for (nearly) his whole box of Merci chocolates, and with (nearly) two whole boxes, they’ve lasted me quite some time. But I’m almost out.
In fact, I only have five little bricks left. And if I eat one a day (like I have for the last month) that only gets me until Wednesday of next week.
So, I just did a search online. And apparently I’m not the only person looking for Merci chocolates. They’re out there. And they’re available online.
Thank you, oh thank you, internet chocolatiers! And thank you A. Jay for the chocolate (which I believe, although I’m not sure, is what the title of my post says).
